RJC is pleased to share our Faith & Life chapel theme for this year, chosen by our Faith & Life committee: Radical Love, Radical Lives.
We get lots of content from the media that tells us to love others and love ourselves, but then why, when we send thoughts and prayers on Instagram or take an epsom salt bath, do we not feel much change? Is it because Jesus calls us to a type of love that is different, counter-cultural, RADICAL even? Certainly, throughout various points in history, including his own time, Jesus’ message and model of love was radical. Maybe it is even now. And maybe, by hearing Jesus’ action-based call to love, our lives will look radical as well.
We are hoping this theme will provide opportunities to share stories about people from contemporary and historical contexts, early Anabaptists, and Jesus himself as folks who lived radical lives motivated by radical love. The Faith and Life committee wants to provide opportunities for students to volunteer in the community and otherwise think about how their actions can reflect Jesus’ love, as well as consider how to best love ourselves.
